Offender: Luke Valente

Offence: 1. Refusing to leave the wicket area. 2. Abusive language. 3. Equipment abuse.
Penalty: 4 Penalty with 1 match suspended

Comments: The Panel considers the actions of Valente were in contravention of 1.1 and 2.1 of the ATCA Code of Conduct. The Panel considers that the breach was of a serious nature, and therefore recommends a four match penalty (minimum of eight-weeks) for the offence. The Panel recommends that one match of this sentence (two-weeks) shall be suspended until the end of the 2008-09 season. In handing down the recommendation The Panel has given consideration to the prior poor behaviour record of Valente, and the seriousness of the offence.

Offence: Level 4.2 - Physical assault of another player.
Penalty: Suspended from playing in any match until the 1st of January 2009.

Comments: In a Premier Grade match between Adelaide HOS and Brighton Mark Howard physically assualted another player and it was therefore the recommendation of the CEP that he be suspended from playing in any match in the ATCA until the 1st of January 2009.

Offence: Use of language that is obscene, offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another player, official or spectator.
Penalty: Three match ban (6 weeks)

Comments: The Compliance Panel has suspended 2 matches (four weeks) until the end of 2007-08 season


Offender: Andrew Summerton
Club: Goodwood
Date: Saturday, 23rd December 2006
Offence: Level 2.2 "Engage in inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with other players"
Penalty: Five, two day matches with two matches suspended

Comments: Summerton is required to serve three matches as an immediate suspension. The requirement to serve the ban of the remaining two matches will be suspended on the basis that the player remains of good behaviour until the end of the 2007/2008 season.

The affect of the penalty is that the player is immediately banned from playing up to and including the 10th of March 2007.

Offence: Engaging in behaviour unbecoming to a player that could bring the game of cricket into disrepute.
Penalty: 1 game. Suspended until 30 December 2007

Comments: During the 29th over, players George and Watson were involved in a verbal confrontation on the field, which reached the point whereby Umpire Dunn was forced to separate both players, and send the batsmen, George, back to the batting crease.

Offence: Engaging in behavior unbecoming to a player that could bring the game of cricket into disrepute.
Penalty: 1 game. Suspended until 30 December 2007

Penalty: Suspended sentance of two matches

Comments: Scott Sullivan will be suspended for two matches on the grounds that captains are ultimately responsible for their team’s behaviour and he has not met this responsibility during this game. His sentance is suspended on the understanding that the Club undertakes a program of support and education for him.

Comments: Using crude and abusive language towards an umpire and players and engaging in conduct detrimental to the Spirit of the Game. No part of the penalty will be suspended.

Penalty: Two matches

Comments: Peter Davids has breached the ATCA Code of Conduct and a level 2 offence has been committed (2.1 and 2.6). Accordingly, a penalty of two matches should be served by him from the beginning of the next season in matches which are played by his club, excluding matches which are not played due to adverse weather conditions.

Comments: Valente has admitted that his actions were wrong, and apologised to the umpire, for which he deserves credit. However, the offence warrants a suspension, which we fix at one (1) match to be served when the team next plays.

Comments: The player admitted the comments directed at the umpire. Part of the penalty requires that he provide a written apology to the umpire.

Comments: Player used loud audible obscenity upon dismissal and when leaving ground. Player apologised to umpires at tea and upon cessation of play. Club implemented own penalty and all this including players previous record taken into account when imposing penalty.
