Penalties
The ATCA is committed to improving the standard of player behaviour on and off the field. The Association will now display all offences relating to the ATCA competition on this page for public viewing.
(Please note: Where a penalty is shown as a Match Ban it signifies that the offence has been incurred in the Two Day Competition. Where the penalty is shown in weeks it signifies that the penalty arose in the Limited Overs Competition.)

Comments: The player upon his dismissal and prior to leaving the field engaged in physical contact with an Ingle Farm player. That contact also saw the player threaten physical harm with his cricket bat. The CEP showed some leniency as it considered the incident would not have occured without the actions of the Ingle Farm player.

Offence: Failure to control his players in contravention of ATCA bylaw D34.

Offence: Bringing the game of cricket into disrepute
Penalty: The player is suspended until 31 January 2009 from all forms of ATCA Competitions.
Comments: The player upon being given out in the 20/20 semi-final proceeded to abuse the umpires and players of the SHOC team. This tirade then continued in the clubrooms and upon his departure from the oval.
Offender: Gepps Cross CC
Club: Gepps Cross CC
Date: Sunday, 10th February 2008
Offence: Bringing the game of cricket into disrepute by the actions of its players and spectators at the 20/20 Final.
Penalty: The club is fined the sum total of $2000. $1500 suspended until conclusion of 209/10 season. Club teams banned from playing home finals at Duncan Fraser until end of 2009/10 season.
Comments: The treatment of the Gepps Cross players and spectators towards the umpires, SHOC and Payneham players during the 20/20 Final was unacceptable and abusive in its nature and continued for the duration of the game. What was of an even greater concern to the ATCA was the apparent lack of action on behalf of the club to reign that behaviour.
Offender: Warren Mitchell
Club: Adelaide HOS

Offence: Using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting
Penalty: Two matches (a one day game is considered in this case one match) with one game suspended.

Offence: Using language that is obscene , offensive or insulting towards another player.
Penalty: One match suspended if he writes an apology to both the Captain of the Modbury CC and the Modbury CC itself.
Comments: The player is charged with using offensive language directed towards the Captain of the Modbury CC. One disturbing aspect is that the statements provided seem to indicate that offensive language is used regularly and therefore no report is necessary. This can not be further from the truth and the club officials and adults should be setting a better example and condoning such behaviour.
